Welcome to our City View Community
City View Community Association has a long history in Nepean and now Ottawa, established in the 1950’s. Our volunteer run Community Association is always busy bringing our neighbourhood’s interests and concerns to the City of Ottawa making sure we stay informed and current on all city issues.
We continue to organize events throughout the year to bring our community members together, to meet each other and create a strong sense of community. We have organized many events and activities such as our Family Fun Day, Winter Carnival, Corn Roast, games/card nights, puddle rink, and the “clean up the capital” at our parks to name a few.
Here are some of the initiatives we are currently working on:
Community Association Membership Drive
Starting in May our volunteers will be going door to door within our community. This is a great opportunity for us to gather information to plan our upcoming community programs and events.
Why become a member of the City View Community Association?
-You are helping to build community spirit and make City View a better place to live
-Your cooperation helps to monitor & maintain as a low- crime neighbourhood!
– We have direct lines of communication with city departments and representatives
– Notices and announcements regarding our neighbourhood are forwarded through e-mail
– Your fee of $10 per year or $25 for 3 years helps pay for our “at cost” various community events and programs
Volunteers will be greatly needed for canvasing door to door in our attempt to reach every household, any contribution would be of great help, please sign up for your own block.
Establishing a Neighbourhood Watch Program
In addition to our membership drive, there will be an opportunity to sign up for our Neighbourhood Watch Program. An information package is available. Our goal is to get enough homes registered to have signs installed in our neighbourhood. We need a minimum of 50% participation to get community signs posted to warn potential criminals we monitor & report crimes in progress.
Neighbourhood Watch is a crime-prevention program that gets citizen’s involved in discouraging and preventing crime by watching out for their neighbours and their neighbour’s property.
With this program you learn:
– how to make your home less inviting as a target for thieves
– how to mark your valuables so that they can be recovered in case of theft
– how to be alert to suspicious activity in our community
– how to respond appropriately to potential threats
