Animal Cruelty Investigation Near City View

Although not happening in City View, these deaths have occurred nearby so we encourage all residents with cats to keep them indoors until the perpetrator is caught.

The Ottawa Police West Criminal Investigations Section is investigating the deaths of four cats that appear to have been intentionally killed.

This morning, officers responded to the area of West Hunt Club Rd and Woodroffe Ave, where two cats were recovered. Initial signs suggest the animals were abused and killed.

Since the beginning of June, there have been two other incidents of deceased cats reported to the Ottawa Police. The other incidents reported appear to have either occurred within City of Ottawa park space, or along bike paths/Hydro Corridors primarily in the area bounded by Greenbank Rd, Baseline Rd, Merivale Rd and Hunt Club Rd.

Police want to speak with any witnesses or anyone who may have further information about these incidents.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact Ottawa Police West Criminal Investigations Section at 613-236-1222 ext. 2666.

We urge the public to report animal welfare concerns to police or the Province’s toll-free 24/7 number 1-833-9ANIMAL or 1-833-926-4625.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
