Current Initiatives

The City View Community Association (CVCA) works for the betterment of our community. Along with our day-to-day activities, below are brief descriptions of initiatives and projects that we are currently focused on. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

75 Granton Re-Zoning

Join us in our efforts to Say No to Granton Re-Zoning. We have received a by-law amendment proposal for 75 Granton Ave. which aims to demolish the existing house and redevelop the site with two pairs of 2-storey semi-detached dwellings. Each principal dwelling unit would have a secondary dwelling unit in the basement for a total of eight units with parking for only four of those units.

official plan Response

We are working hard to represent City View’s needs and concerns in relation to the City’s new 10 Year Official Plan. The CVCA submitted an official response to the City on March 12, 2021. Click here to view it.

Traffic Calming

A major focus is a revitalized traffic calming plan that is reflective of City View’s growth and location. We are currently working on a new plan with the Councilor’s Office and City. We are asking residents to share thoughts, ideas and concerns by completing our online form.

Safety Campaign

As a community, we need to do our own individual parts to Help Keep City View Safe. Throughout the summer, we’ll be sharing a series of awareness communications as well as handing out posters and signs while stressing the importance of reporting. We hope our efforts will add greater support to our asks from the City.

Revitalized Constitution & bylaws

The CVRF constitution and bylaws have been redeveloped and are awaiting official approval at the 2024 Annual General Meeting.

Canada Healthy Communities initiative

In hopes to bring more utilized public green space to City View and Ryan Farm, we applied for the Canada Healthy Communities Initiatives grant in March 2021 and are awaiting a response.

Local Business engagement

A local business directory is currently in development as well as a CVRF sponsorship package which will promote local businesses while providing much needed support to the community

Brand Refresh

You may have noticed that we look a bit different. To usher in the new era of City View and Ryan Farm we underwent a brand refresh in February 2021. This included creating a new logo, website and e-bulletin newsletter. We have recently welcomed Ryan Farm to the association. Therefore. we have added Ryan Farm into our branding, we are working towards a complete inclusion. The logo has been updated.

Community Design Secondary Plan

Membership drive

It was brought to light during the City’s Official Plan process in early 2021 that City View and Ryan Farm do not have a secondary plan. We are currently working on creating one with the City.

We are working hard at improving our communications and the ways we serve the community in hopes to increase our membership and to encourage membership renewal. Click here to learn more about CVRF memberships.

City View Moms Network

City View Ottawa Moms Facebook group has been created in hopes to build a hyperlocal group where local moms of young children can connect. Click here to learn more.

Telephone tree for seniors

We’re starting a telephone tree service for local seniors in case of emergencies as well as to provide support and connection. If you would like to be on the list, fill out our web form.
