Wishing a very happy holiday season to all of those in our community. Lots of peace, happiness and love!
From your City View Community Association Executive
Poinsettias and Gift Exchange
Sixty beautiful poinsettas were delivered to the Starwood Extendicare nursing home to dress up their dining room and bring cheer to the residents. This was organized by your community association with donations from NROCRC and the Home Depot on Baseline Rd.
A very successful holiday gift exchange was wrapped up with all gifts delivered this past weekend. So much fun!
City View Rink Now Open
The Community Rink Manager and his team of volunteers are gearing up to have a great community rink behind the Nepean Museum. Stay tuned or visit the rink to see what the status is for skating. It is open at the moment!
Artists Wanted: City View Mural Painting
Our community has been given the opportunity to paint murals on the Nepean Museum starting summer 2022. We are looking for local artistic talent to help design and plan our murals, to participate in the painting or to help raise funds to cover the cost of the paint. Email us if you are interested in getting involved: cityviewassociation@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more ideas and progress reports.
Traffic Calming: New Signs!
You may have noticed that some of the City View traffic calming signs have been installed. There are now three community entrance signs at Cordova, Starwood and Withrow. All other streets coming into City View also now have new gateway signs warning that this is a community where the speed limit is 40 kmph throughout. The existing street speed signs have been removed. More traffic calming will continue in the early spring 2022.
2022: Year of the Garden
From January 1 to December 31, 2022, The Year of the Garden 2022, a Centennial Celebration of our horticulture sector, will commemorate Canada’s rich garden heritage, celebrate today’s vibrant garden culture, and create important legacies. Join the Celebration as we expand our new pollinator garden! Do you have other ideas about how City View should Celebrate the Year of the Garden? Email us at: cityviewassociation@gmail.com
“….and into the garden I go to lose my mind and find my soul!”
Tree Planting in City View
The scheduled tree planting for the late fall at the Nepean Museum has been delayed until the spring 2022. There will also be a large number of trees planted at the Elizabeth Wyn Wood School and City View Park next spring.
Other Community Projects
In the New year we will still be looking for community members interested in working on our Baseline Rd, City View and Merivale Rd Secondary Plans under the new official plan. Please let us know if interested by emailing cityviewassociation@gmail.com.
Also, just a note to say that the Planning Committee will not be hearing the case of 75 Granton until at least the end of February 2022.
Volunteer Call Out
The CVCA needs more help! We are specifically looking for individuals to help plan & host community events, additional Board members and someone to assist our communications director with social media. We can also provide volunteer hours for high-school students.
Volunteering with us means you will have the opportunity to:
- Make the City View community a better place to live
- Promote the best City View has to offer
- Meet other residents from City View and build a stronger, more connected community
If you are interested, send us an email at cityviewassociation@gmail.com
The CVCA is thankful for our dedicated volunteers. As a volunteer-run association, we understand the value of your time and hard work.
